Moving your patients from Jane to AbanteOS

Bring your Jane patients and appointments across from Jane's Patient List and Appointments reports.

Last checked: 24 October 2026

You move your own patients, so you decide what comes across and when. Nothing is saved until you’ve checked every row, nothing is sent to your patients, and you can undo your latest import if something looks wrong.

What you can bring

1. Get your data out of Jane

Export your patients

  1. Sign in to Jane as the Account Owner or a Full Access user (Jane only shows the Patient List report to them).
  2. Go to Reports, then Patient List (it may just say List). Set Patients to All Patients so inactive patients are included too.
  3. Click the three dots at the top right of the report and choose Export to Excel or CSV. A new tab opens; click Download CSV File when it's ready.

Jane's exported Patient List has more columns than the report shows on screen, including active medical alerts and first and last visit dates.

Export your appointments

  1. Go to Reports, then Appointments.
  2. Open the Date Range filter. Use the left arrow to go back to the first day you had appointments, and the right arrow to go forward to next year so pre-booked appointments are included. Jane shows how many days you've chosen.
  3. Click the three dots and choose Export to Excel, then download the file.

At the time of writing, Jane's guides don't list the columns in these exports, so you'll check how each column is matched when you import them.

These steps are based on Jane’s public help pages at the time of writing (last checked 24 October 2026). If something looks different, check their help centre or ask their support for the latest steps.

2. Import your patients

  1. Sign in to AbanteOS, open Patients and click Move clients over.
  2. On “Clients from a file”, choose Jane in “From”, then click Choose file and pick your Patient List export. Up to 2,000 patients at a time.
  3. Check the columns. Jane doesn’t document the column names, so match each one yourself (Full name or First name and Last name, Email, Phone, ID from your old system) and leave the ones you don’t need on Skip.
  4. Check every row. Each one shows as Ready, Invalid (for example an email that isn’t valid) or Duplicate (the same email twice, or someone who’s already your patient). Nothing is saved yet, and Download error report gives you the list with the reasons.
  5. Untick “Make invite links” if your patients won’t use the app yet, then click Import. Nothing is emailed to anyone.

3. Import your appointments

  1. Open the Appointments tab in Move clients over, choose Jane and pick your Appointments report export (up to 5,000 appointments at a time).
  2. Check the columns and the date order: day/month/year for UK and Australian accounts, month/day/year for US ones.
  3. Choose who each practitioner in the file is on your team, or “Don’t import”.
  4. Check every row: Ready, Can’t import (for example no patient with that Jane patient ID or email), Duplicate (already imported) or Skipped (it clashes with another appointment for that practitioner). The summary shows how many are upcoming, past, cancelled and did not arrive.
  5. Click Import. Past appointments keep whether the patient arrived, did not arrive or cancelled; upcoming ones go into the diary as booked.

Good to know for Jane:

Made a mistake? Undo your latest import from Past imports in Move clients over. Appointments you’ve changed since (moved, marked, invoiced or noted) are kept.

4. Invite your patients (optional)

If you want patients to use the app for exercises, booking or messages, copy the invite links shown after the patient import and send them yourself. Each link works for 14 days; you can make a new one from the patient’s record.

Tip: keep your Jane account until you’ve checked your diary and records in AbanteOS, and stop online booking in Jane so nobody books into the old diary.
